About the Author
Gary Williams is a graduate of the University of Dayton with a master's degree in public administration. Married with six children, he retired from the State of Ohio in 2011. He began his writing in 2003 with the title Siege in Lucasville. He published SEAL of Honor: Operation Red Wings and the Life of LT Michael P. Murphy, USN in 2010 and Heart of A Lion: The Leadership of LT Michael P. Murphy, U.S. Navy SEAL in 2012.

A Moral Compass That Points to True North.

I bought "Heart of a Lion" because I'm a fan of military history and followed the books on Operation Red Wings. What I got was much more than another book about Navy SEALs.
"Heart of a Lion" is a much needed compass that points to the true north of integrity and honor. It challenges us to examine ourselves, our values and our motives. "Heart of a Lion" provides leadership lessons for Fortune 500 CEO's and teenagers trying to moderate the influences of peer pressure.
While the book is value and moral based it crosses boundaries sometimes established by specific texts that reference faith or religion. You won't get that here. "Heart of a Lion" simply teaches how to live a life on honor and acknowledges that, as humans, we will all make mistakes and all fall short sometimes.
This may be the perfect value based book for business, educators and families. At only 118 succinct, well written pages it is perfect for teachers to use in class and businesses to distribute to their staff and managers. Never "preachy" and filled with examples from Medal of Honor winner Michael P. Murphy (the Navy SEAL killed in Operation Red Wings while radioing for support for his team, exposing himself to enemy fire) the book delivers powerful insights on strong values that have slipped so much in our modern society.

Short but wonderful

I was hoping for a book that was a little longer (I did not read how many pages were in it when I bought it) but every page of it is well worth it. No extra "fluff" in this book, short and to the point. After each chapter there are blank lined pages for you to make notes on what you just read. I really enjoyed this as the book really had my brain turning and worked perfect for me to put my thoughts onto paper. I enjoyed the book so much I bought another and sent it to a friend. Highly recommend this for young and old.

A true leader

I am almost done with this book, and I think most people(myself included) could learn a lot about real leadership and integrity from Mike Murphy. Not boasting, helping those who are less popular, and admitting mistakes are things we should all do, and if I could I would make ALL members of congress read this and learn from a true man of honor.
