Born in 1976 in Glendale, California, SABER had already made his name a visual fixture in Los Angeles by the end of his teens. But it was as a 20-year-old that he completed the painting that would catapult him to the status of a global legend. His piece on the sloping bank of the Los Angeles River is nearly the size of a football field, and can be read clear as day from a satellite photo. In a famous photograph taken by his father just after it was completed SABER stands on the piece and appears as a tiny speck amid a giant blaze of color.
In the years since, SABER has continued to push himself as an artist. He has created groundbreaking metal and wood sculptures, painstakingly rendered hyper-realistic canvases, and works in many other media.
We all want to remain permanent, explains SABER, and in his book, SABER: MAD SOCIETY, he shows the entire scope of his efforts at permanence from oil paintings on canvas to the largest graffiti piece in the world. A seminal contribution to American Art History

With an informative text co-authored by Caleb Neelon and 'Zio', "Saber: Mad Society" is a collection showcasing graffiti wall-art as compiled and edited by Roger Gastman. Examples are taken from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and elsewhere to exemplify the style, placement and proliferation of this unique and often transitory artwork which ranges from the simple to the complex, and from the amateur to the professional. The patterns, colors, images depicted in these examples are truly impressive. The commentary provided is truly informative. Combined, they make "Saber: Mad Society" a seminal contribution to American Art History and inclusion into academic library and university art department reference collections.

The book was overall good and exciting with lots of laughs. Its kind of a kids book sort of speak... for graff writers. Mostly short storys and tons of pics. It can also be finished in one day, although i took two.
It starts out by going into sab's upbringing, which was acually interesting, kind of all makes sense. youll know what i mean when u read it.
Than it quickly dives into some of sab's legendary illegals and stomping grounds for AWR and MSK. It also grazes into a few other peoples lifes and tells some things that most people dont know.
I only wish he told more. I guess i feel that i got the short story of it all and i was in for the long. Im also very dissapointed that he never really got into king AYERS story, kinda just skipped over him.
all in all, its a book worth picking up for the price.
to sum it all up:
amazing artwork. deep, funny look into the life. in kind of a short story form.

If you are not familiar with Saber then get this book! if you are familiar with saber then get this book!!!! The book goes into detail about his childhood and through his teenage years with ALOT of artwork. The stories are in detail and pull you right in! truly a great book about a west coast graffiti artist! i couldn't find this book for a while and i found it on Amazon at a really good price, so dont wait... GET IT!
